Description
Mona Lisa and Aerosmith mixed media painting and record album cover pop art collage by Steven Shaver.
The discovery of a vintage record album featuring the famous Mona Lisa painting on the cover led to an idea to create pop art collages from record album covers, gameboards and other collectables that could include her. Starting with Nat King Cole, love songs have been sung about Mona Lisa, but what if there were album covers with images of other famous singers that could be shown next to her singing and looking at her? What if monuments like the Statue of Liberty on album covers, iconic athletes like Babe Ruth on baseball cards, or game trinkets like the cat on Monopoly gameboards were placed at her side trying to get her attention? What would Mona Lisa be thinking?
Collage features caption of Mona Lisa saying, "Dream On" and concert of photo of Aerosmith's Steven Tyler with altered 'O' Yeah' song lyrics and album cover piece.
Original 'Mona Lisa' song facts:
The song was written by Ray Evans and Jay Livingston for the 1950's movie Captain Carey, U.S.A. It won an Oscar for Best Song. In this song, Nat King Cole compares his love to the famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci. The Mona Lisa if famous for her smile and her mystique, as the portrait has become one of the most famous works of art in history.
Original 'Mona Lisa' song lyrics:
Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa, men have named you
You're so like the lady with the mystic smile
Is it only 'cause you're lonely they have blamed you?
For that Mona Lisa strangeness in your smile?
Do you smile to tempt a lover, Mona Lisa?
Or is this your way to hide a broken heart?
Many dreams have been brought to your doorstep
They just lie there and they die there
Are you warm, are you real, Mona Lisa?
Or just a cold and lonely lovely work of art?
Do you smile to tempt a lover, Mona Lisa?
Or is this your way to hide a broken heart?
Many dreams have been brought to your doorstep
They just lie there and they die there
Are you warm, are you real, Mona Lisa?
Or just a cold and lonely lovely work of art?
Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa
2012 Aerosmith's, 'Oh Yeah' song lyrics:
I would die for you baby
I cry for you baby
I'm on my knees for you baby
Won't ya please give me some of your love
I got eyes for you baby (Oh yeah)
I'd go blind for you baby (Oh yeah)
I would steal for you baby (Oh yeah)
If you just gimme some of your love
Some of your love
Will keep my soul intact
Some of your love
Will keep the storm clouds back
I don't think that I could ever come back
If you don't gimme some of your love
She showed me things (Oh Yeah)
That I never knew (Oh Yeah)
They been there forever (Oh Yeah)
But it's the first time that I flew
Some of your love
Will keep my soul intact
Some of your love
Will keep the storm clouds back
I don't think I could eer come back
If you don't give me some of your love
You're the stars in my sky (Oh yeah)
And there's no wondering why (Oh yeah)
Now the moon's coming out
Our hearts start to race
There was never a doubt
Just a sudden embrace
Your beautiful soul
Your beautiful face
One sweet kiss
And I just gotta say
I would die for you baby (Oh yeah)
I would cry for you baby (Oh yeah)
I'm on my knees for you baby (Oh yeah)
Won't ya please give me some of your love
Note: Watermark will NOT be on print. The black outline is part of the design to make the collage appear framed, not an actual frame.
